Elders Protecting Our Constitution
We’re a bunch of old folks who remember civics class and care deeply about our democracy.
We’re Concerned. Are you?
WHY WE’RE SPEAKING UP
This isn't just about us. It's about your future.
We get it. Life is busy. News is chaotic. And it’s easier than ever to tune out. But what’s happening in our country isn’t normal. The slide into autocracy is happening right before our eyes. We see it. We’re old. We’ve been around long enough to know the signs.
Democracies don’t break all at once. They erode slowly, step by step.

Short reflections that connect the dots
Our blog is where we slow down and put into words what many people feel in their gut. No academic papers. No hot takes. Just elders trying to help you see the patterns.
CONNECT THE DOTS
Putting words to what many are feeling
We can learn from the lessons of history. Our lived experience informs our thinking and shapes our viewpoints. Consider what we say and draw your own conclusions. We’re not here to tell you what to think. What’s important is that you think critically and act before it’s too late.
Thinking critically means actively seeking out reliable, well-supported information and using it to develop your own informed opinions rather than accepting assumptions or unverified claims.
Topics might include:
- Income inequality and the American Dream
- Is healthcare a right or a privilege?
- Power and money in politics
- Is America really divided?
- Re-writing history
- Who benefits from the current administration?
- America’s standing in the world
Bottom line, it’s not really about us.
It’s about what comes after us.
You don’t need to be a policy expert or follow every headline to make a difference.
You only need to care enough to remain alert, ask questions, and notice when something isn’t right.
How you can put this to work
Be informed
Pick a topic that interests you. Read our posts, watch our videos, or read up on the resources we're providing. Sit with it for a minute before you move on.
Vote in every election
Register, research, and vote in every election you can. Local elections shape the conditions that either strengthen or weaken democracy over time.
Show up when it counts
Let your voice be heard. Speak up when it matters. Write to your elected representatives; post, comment and follow others who are taking action. Donate if you can.
